Casa Lemmi :  Inspiring boutique rooms with a view “Inside for out – outside for in”
South of Siena, in the heart of The Orcia Valley (Val d’Orcia), and enclosed in the enchanted triangle between Montepulciano, Montalcino e Pienza, lies the medieval town of San Quirico d’Orcia, tranquil home of the Bed & Breakfast Casa Lemmi.
The B&B Casa Lemmi is an ancient dwelling, dating back to Norman times, and the beginning of the last millennium. Today it is dedicated to hospitality, offering quality accommodation to guests visiting this sweetly wild and historically rich part of Tuscany.
The Bed & Breakfast Casa Lemmi is a charming historic building set in the center of the village of San Quirico d’Orcia, to be found in front of the Collegiate Church of Saints Quirico and Giuditta and the noble palace of Palazzo Chigi, built by Flavio Chigi in the 17th Century, and now the town hall.
From the two guest rooms, recently restructured as works dedicated to the art of hospitality, we can enjoy a view of the Collegiate Church on one side, once a stop along the ancient Via Francigena, while on the other it is Monte Amiata, dominating the Orcia Valley, that catches the eye.
Few places can boast the breathtaking views and emotions that B&B Casa Lemmi is able to offer: welcoming rooms steeped in history, the envy of any hotel, immersed in the tranquility of  Tuscany, at once romantic and still profoundly authentic.
The best of Umbria and Tuscany is within easy reach of the Bed & Breakfast Casa Lemmi. Indeed, the most important Tuscan and Umbrian destinations are at most an hour’s drive from San Quirico d’Orcia.
Or, choosing to stay in the Orcia Valley, you can quickly and easily arrive at the birthplace of  famous wines, such as Montalcino, home of the illustrious Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G., or Montepulciano, home of the famous Nobile di Montepulciano D.O.C.G., and discover the taste of yet more important wines of the area surrounding Siena, such as Chianti dei Colli Senesi D.O.C.G. or the Rosso della Val d’Orcia D.O.C.
These fine wines are complemented by the typical Tuscan delicacies that have long held court on kitchen tables here in the heart of the province of Siena, such as the Pecorino di Pienza D.O.P. cheese, for example.
Of course, the Orcia Valley is not only about great food, and charming accommodation; it is also the starting point for many itineraries, which can satisfy the most diverse interests.
The heart of Toscana Felix, and the birthplace of the art of the Sienese “primitives”, at first with Duccio and Lorenzetti, and then Sodoma and Signorelli , the Orcia Valley has also given birth to famous names in literature and thought, such as Poliziano, originally from Montepulciano, the father of Secular humanism and a leading figure in the Renaissance, and important Popes such as Pio II Piccolomini, who made his hometown Pienza the prototype of the perfect Renaissance city.
The serene countryside surrounding the Tuscan territories of San Quirico, Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano, with their rolling hills, will never cease to create new tales for curious visitors to this charming land, revealing the strong spiritual passion that permeates these places.
This spirituality seems to take shape in the austure architecture of the Sant’Antimo Abbey, near Montalcino, or the Benedictine Abbey of Monte Oliveto, between Asciano and Buonconvento, which lives in the memory of the deeds of Saint Catherine of Siena, a mystic visionary who was often a guest in the village of Bagno Vignoni, a hamlet of San Quirico d’Orcia, already famous at the time for the healing powers of its thermal waters.
We should also remember the desire for freedom of this pr Soud people, as demonstrated by the revolt against the oppressor Cesare Borgia, destroyer of San Quirico d’Orcia, and the competitive spirit that can still be found in passionately felt events like that most famous of traditional horse races, the Palio di Siena.
It has to be said that the Orcia Valley has almost too many hidden treasures for us to list, and for you to discover: Etruscan mysteries, traces of the Lombards, stories of the Knights Templar, secret languages hidden in the facades of churches, and esoteric secrets hidden in timeless places such as the Abbey of Saint Galgano.
If you love to discover new experiences, and have even a passing interest in the mysterious and arcane, then the Bed & Breakfast Casa Lemmi is the right place for you: immersed in time, and wrapped in enchantment, Casa Lemmi will be the perfect starting point for your adventures and travels in Umbria and Tuscany.
The B&B Casa Lemmi is in the historic centre (centro storico) of San Quirico d’Orcia, in the province of Siena, directly in front of the Collegiate Church (Chiesa della Collegiata) and Palazzo Chigi, now the town hall.
